In a few years of activity and with only three studio albums, Nirvana left their mark on music. In fact, the trio made up of Kurt Cobain , Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl not only dazzled the fans but also George Michael . As Far Out Magazine recalls , there is a song by the grunge icon that “changed everything” for him: “ Smells Like Teen Spirit ”.

In dialogue with the Desert Island Discs program, Michael demonstrated his wide musical taste when he selected the hit from Nevermind as one of the tracks that he would take to a desert island: “My fourth option is Nirvana. This song is the best produced in the history of rock, I think. It's not necessarily the best song, it's a phenomenal one, obviously. It was a track that changed the music industry, it changed everything in America overnight, because it's an absolute classic .”

The English singer-songwriter and producer said that if he found himself stranded on a deserted island he'd be angry, so the 1991 anthem would be perfect. "If he was on an island, he would be so furious that I think I would need to vent from time to time, you know what I mean?" Michael said at that time.
